The short version

• We do not ask you to create an account.
• We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
• Fonts are served from this domain, not from a third-party font CDN.
• If you email us, we have your email — that is the only personal data we hold on purpose.
• Outbound retailer links may set their own cookies. That is on their side, and their policy applies.

What we collect

Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard technical request data — IP address, timestamp, URL requested, referrer, user agent — for security, abuse prevention and diagnosing errors. This is ordinary infrastructure logging, retained for a short period by the host and not used to build a profile of you.

Email you send us

The contact form on this site does not transmit anything to us. It composes a message in your own email client, which you then choose to send. If you send it, we hold that email — your address, your name if you gave it and the content — for as long as we need it to reply and to keep a record of corrections. You can ask us to delete it.

Analytics

At the time of writing this site runs no analytics or advertising scripts at all. If that changes, we will name the provider here before it goes live, and we will choose one that is cookieless and does not build cross-site profiles.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own and uses no local storage for tracking. You will not see a consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.

Third parties are a different matter. If you click an affiliate link to a retailer, that retailer will typically set a cookie recording that you arrived from us, so a resulting sale can be attributed. We never receive your name, address, payment details or order contents — only aggregate commission reports. See our affiliate disclosure.

Legal basis (UK/EU GDPR)

• Legitimate interests — keeping the site secure and available, and replying to correspondence you initiate.
• Consent — if we ever add a newsletter, you will have opted in explicitly and can leave in one click.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port the personal data we hold about you, to object to processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority (in the UK, the ICO). Since the only personal data we normally hold is email correspondence, most requests are simple: email hello@sometimes-gardening.com and we will action it, usually within a few days and always within a month.

California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not process it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. Gardening with kids is very much encouraged; data collection is not.

Data transfers and security

The site is served over HTTPS from a global content delivery network, which means the page you are reading may have been served from a data centre outside your country. Content on this site is public by design. Email correspondence sits with our email provider under their security controls.

External links

We link out to retailers, extension services and other gardening resources. We are not responsible for their privacy practices — check their policies before handing over personal data.

Changes

When this policy changes we update the date at the top. If a change is significant — a new analytics provider, say — we will make that clear rather than slipping it in.
